The twelfth North Devon and Exmoor Walking Festival offers the opportunity to discover, on foot, one of our finest National Parks. Exmoor is home to some of the most varied and beautiful scenery in southern England comprising a coastline with high and dramatic cliffs and heather moorland cut by deep fertile valleys dotted with pretty villages. To the north the moorland terminates in towering cliffs above the Bristol Channel. Rocky headlands, steep wooded ravines, plunging waterfalls and jumbled heaps of fallen rock make this an area of outstanding beauty. Inland, the small winding roads of Exmoor take you through a varied countryside of brooding moorland, lush farmland, ancient wooded valleys and historic villages with traditional thatched cottages.

Cottages 4 You have a wide selection of cottages available, many with special offers, in the Exmoor National Park for the duration of the Walking Festival. English Country Cottages, Sykes Cottages and Hoseasons have several cottages available, some with special offers.

The festival takes place over ten days starting on Saturday the 27th April with 41 guided walks to choose from. The festival starts in the seaside resort of Ilfracombe for the first two days. It then moves along the coast to Lynton and Lynmouth with a selection of guided walks in that area over the next three days. A further three days are centred around the coastal village of Porlock with walks led around the fascinating saltmarshes and up to Dunkery Beacon, Exmoor’s highest point. The festival finishes over the May Day Bank Holiday in the area around Dunster for two days, covering the eastern side of the moor and the foothills of the Quantocks.
